Taxi Red is a robust South African snuff that has a reputation for its strength. This well fermented blend of local virginia and rustica cultivars compromise the backbone of this powerhouse. The tobacco, when freshly tinned, gives of a very pungent aroma due to residual ammonia from fermentation, it is suggested to let the contents "air out" by leaving the cover off and letting the spirits evaporate. The stink, being a sign of freshness, may be the price to pay to enjoy this wild African tiger but does abate after a few hours. The initial flavor is of pure tobacco that is imparted by its terroir and reveals a singular flavor.

Unlike his brother blue, this blend of shredded leaves has been fermented with special attention to tabacum rustica for its potent nicotine benefits. Due to the coarseness of the grind, it is easy to take with little to no irritation. The color is dark, almost black and is very moist which delivers an extreme rush of pleasure that outperforms his brother blue and cousin green and delivers a memorable wallop of nicotine as well as flavor in every pinch. Be warned fellow snuffers, this one is real.

Taxi Red Extra Strong 25g: A Rustic Delight

Opening the tin of Taxi Red transports you straight to the heart of South Africa. The bold punch of ammonia signifies its fresh fermentation. But beyond that, awaits a rich, pure tobacco aroma, hinting at earthy days on a farm and a trace of unexpected spearmint. The blend's dark, coarse texture promises a nicotine rush that rivals several cigarettes at once. For true tobacco aficionados, Taxi Red isn't just a recommendation, it's essential. Dive in and feel the powerful embrace of this African gem!

Red Alert!

It's very strong and ammonia-forward. A blast!
It's hard to take other snuffs seriously after this, and I'm probably doing too much, tbh.

Top SA

NTSU was my favorite SA until my first toot of TAXI, which is now not only my favorite SA but one of my top snuffs overall.

Some like to air it out, but I like it best at it's freshest, when there's still a ton of moisture and aroma. I wouldn't classify it as barnyard at all, it's more of a rich sweetness, like freshground coffee (as is the grind).

Dark, coarse, and strong like bull.

Decent

I was hoping for a tin of horse dung, but not getting much barnyard sent. Mildly fruity aroma, very moist, decent nicotine hit. I much prefer NTSU Black

A bit disappointing

I was expecting a bigger nicotine hit because of all the reviews. It is strong I guess but I don't know that it can actually replace a strong cigarette. I don't feel the hospitalizing kick in the head I was anticipating. I think there may be other snuffs that are just as strong that smell better. Wilson's Gold Label for instance. It is moist and coarse so if you take too big a pinch some of it will fall out of your nose. As for the smell, it is awful. It reminds me of chocolate, wet floor and ammonia more than barnyard. You have to take a chaser snuff to get the stink out of your sinuses. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say.
