As the name suggests, Tops Mild is indeed a mild scotch snuff, easy on the nose but still very enjoyable. It's pale and dry as expected but it is rather less smoky than most American scotch snuffs.
This allows the tobacco flavors to come through nice and cleanly. In many ways this one is nearer to an Irish Toast than many American scotches.

When I first picked up a thrift can of this, the tin note was of a sweet, flue cured Virginia tobacco that reminds me of a pipe tobacco by Two Daughters, Ryback Gold. It is milder on the nicotine than most scotches and is quite less smoky too, being more straightforward tangy tobacco. It does share a close similarity to Dental Scotch, they are nearly exactly the same taste and smell wise with this having less nicotine. I believe it is due to a lack of alkalization. A good beginners snuff for those that aren't big on the bold smokiness of most American scotches.
